Belle Knox (real name Miriam Weeks) was born June 9, 1995 in Spokane, Washington. She became a household name in late 2013 when it emerged she was performing in adult films to help pay her tuition at Duke University, sparking a media firestorm and a widely-read Rolling Stone profile.
She turned the controversy into a platform, becoming an outspoken voice on sex work and feminism, and picked up a 2014 Fanny Award and a 2015 XBIZ Award along the way. She went on to graduate from Duke and later pursued a career in law.
