Mia Khalifa

Mia Khalifa is a Lebanese-American media personality born on February 10, 1993 in Beirut, Lebanon. Her family moved to the United States in 2001 and settled in Montgomery County, Maryland; she later graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in history.

A three-month career

She entered the adult industry in October 2014 and left in early 2015 — a career of about three months. A Bang Bros scene in which she wore a hijab went viral worldwide and caused a major backlash, including death threats. Despite leaving so quickly, she was ranked the number one performer on Pornhub in 2015 and again in 2018.

Her view of the industry

Mia Khalifa has since spoken openly about that period: she has said she earned around $12,000 in total, about $1,000 per scene, and has criticised the way the industry profits from performers’ old content. In 2020 a petition asking for her videos to be removed from adult sites gathered more than 1.5 million signatures.

Media career

After a stint as a paralegal and bookkeeper, she moved into sports commentary, co-hosting Out of Bounds (2017–2018) and Sportsball (2018). She appeared in Hulu’s Ramy in 2020, creates content on YouTube, Twitch and OnlyFans, and launched the jewellery line Sheytan in 2023. She is also known for her outspoken political views and her fundraising for Beirut after the 2020 port explosion.
