Jules Jordan Video is what happens when a director gets so good at his job that staying under someone else’s roof stops making sense. The guy himself, born Ashley Gasper, started out working the counter at an adult video store before he ever picked up a camera, and by 2001 he’d hooked up with John Stagliano over at Evil Angel, where he was actually the highest-selling director on the roster his very first year. Series like Ass Worship and Flesh Hunter were his, and they were AVN winners, not just filler content.
Then in 2006 he just left and started his own label, which is a gutsy move when you’re already doing well somewhere else, but it clearly paid off, Jules Jordan Video became one of the dominant names in high-end gonzo, elite performers, production values that actually look expensive instead of shot in someone’s spare bedroom. He’s in both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame at this point, which isn’t handed out for free. Angela White has shot for him, and so has Aidra Fox, both exactly the caliber of talent you’d expect given his track record.
If you want gonzo that still looks like somebody actually gave a damn about the lighting and the camera work, this is one of the more reliable names to go to, the guy’s been doing it long enough and well enough that the quality doesn’t really dip.
